Greetings Providence Presbytery in the name of Jesus Christ,
We all are moving through the “What ifs” of the coronavirus disease. For some of us we may have more questions than answers. Yet through it all, we write to you, offering prayers and hopefully some wisdom for the congregations of Providence Presbytery.
Pray: • for each other• for those who have been infected, whose lives are changed from this virus• for God to receive our worries about loved one• for calm during hectic days• for gratitude; we can still praise an awesome Lord
Be Wise:• Don’t panic; be smart; use your best judgment• If you feel bad: stay home• If you are at risk: stay home• Be informed: www.cdc.gov; www.pda.pcusa.org; www.scdhec.gov
Make Decisions:• Church or no church: o This is a Session decision• Be creative: New ways to worship: o Providence Presbytery Facebook page has a lesson on how to Pass the Peace using American Sign Languageo Devotions or short messages on Facebook, Facetime, Zoom or Skype• How to minister to congregants who are quarantined, be it voluntary or not o Check on neighbors by phone or texto Be creative: deliver groceries or medicineso Childcare for those who are sick or are trying to work from home
The presbytery meeting is still scheduled for March 19 • A final decision will be made and notification will go out on Monday, March 16th
We walk together in this time of uncertainty. The true certainty is that God is in control and we are God’s Children. We are here with you and for you. Let us know if you have any concerns or questions.
Peace be with you, Hoover and Olivia
